New Series for the Summer

This summer, some YA authors are starting up new series. Here's a rundown so you don't miss out!

Obsidian Blade by Pete Hautman
Book 1 of the Klaatu Diskos Series
Hautman is a writer who doesn't mind pushing into subject matters that many authors consider taboo. He won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature in 2004 for his book Godless. This new series has some observations on religion as well, although it is very much a science fiction-time travel novel.

Fated by Alyson Noel
Book 1 of the Soul Seekers Series
If you loved Noel's Immortals series (Evermore, Blue Moon, Shadowland, Dark Flame, Night Star, and Everlasting) then you'll be happy about the new Soul Seekers. Once again, Noel hits just the right balance of mystery, magic, and romance. Younger readers may want to check out the Riley Bloom series, which is a spin-off of The Immortals.

The Jerk Magnet by Melody Carlson
Book 1 of the Life at Kingston High Series
Author of several popular series, as well as dozens of excellent books for teens and twenty-somethings, Carlson has the uncanny ability to allow readers full access to her characters' hearts, minds, and souls. The Life at Kingston High series falls in the "painfully funny" category, as Carlson merges the improbable with the possible.

There must be many that I have missed. Have you started a good series recently? Leave a comment and tell us about it!
